Bohemian Travel Portfolio
This week I got a package in the mail from Somerset Studio, returning some projects. They showed this portfolio in a recent issue, but the image is quite tiny and no instructions or supplies are included (it was to illustrate a product review of the Sara’s Surfaces™ line). Anyway, it’s now traveled twice across the US, the Atlantic and Europe so I thought I’d show it to you here!
(What I love about this project is how adaptable it is—I stashed tickets and memorabilia from a trip to Paris inside, but you could decorate it to hold things from any travels or just about any special occasion!)
I started with the 8”x8” Portfolio, which I covered with papers from Bohemian sarapapers™. I LOVE these designs! A tip: Before decorating your portfolio, decide how thick you want it to be, to accommodate whatever you want to put inside. Then crease on the appropriate scored lines.
The top flap is covered with paper, then wrapped with ribbon that’s secured to the inside flap with tape. I lined the inside flap too, which covers the ribbon ends. The vintage button, flower, ribbon and leaf are all secured onto the front with Diamond Glaze adhesive.
On the outside of the portfolio is a Coin Envelope, covered in paper and glued to the front of the portfolio. The “Joyful” stamp on the tag on the front is from the Expressions stamp set…I use this stamp set all the time and love the little words.

On the inside I lined the center and flaps with green paper, then added two Tall Coin Envelopes. The main flap of the portfolio and the coin envies are held closed with adhesive magnet tape—you can buy this on a roll at a craft or hardware store. Just cut off two pieces the same size, then place them together and let them sit under some books until they’re flat enough to attach. (The roll makes them…well, rolly.) You can also get magnets that don’t come on a roll, but I’ve found the roll holds better because you can cut off a longer piece.
I covered the bottom inside flap with paper, then added a 6”x6” portfolio. (This is where I used a lot of leftover paper and embellishment bits.) The 6”x6” portfolio holds a CD perfectly, so it’s a great place to store a CD with Paris photos until I can get them scrapped.
Can you see how adaptable this project is? You could decorate it with baby-themed papers and embellishments for a new parent to hold a photo CD and records, or do the same as a wedding gift for the bride!
