Laura’s Cute Cupcakes

My friend Laura, who designs for HOTP, emailed me recently and said: “I just wanted to show you that I am really liking this cupcake template. Tonight I have my Christmas bunco party so I filled these with chocolates. Makes a fun centerpiece stacked in the middle of the table.”

Take a look at the photo she sent—how cute is this centerpiece? Laura adds, “They would be fun for any occasion. I can see using them as birthday party favors, baby shower, bridal shower. Anything really. Can you tell I am really liking this template? I don't even mind all the cutting.” (Laura is in my Cutting Challenged Support Group.) Well, if Laura doesn’t mind it then I bet I won’t either. Plus, just looking at this sweet stack of cupcakes is inspiring, so I asked Laura to share her photo and instructions for using the 3-D Cupcakes Template.

Happy Holiday treats
Laura’s tip: Use foam tape to hold the small “cherry” swirl on top of the cupcakes so the recipient can easily open the top to find the goodies inside.

Supplies used:

Instructions:

  1. Trace and cut out 12 liners of the Yummy design on the back of the Holly on Green paper. Fold the liners and glue the tabs behind each section to create the base for each cupcake.
  2. Trace and cut out 12 holders of the Yummy design on the back of the Red Splats paper. Fold the holders and glue inside the liners for extra hold. Fill the cupcakes with desired treat and fold the tops. Create the swirl top by folding the top clockwise and tucking each tab under the prior tab.
  3. Trace and cut out 12 swirl “cherry” toppers on the back of the gold metallic paper. Fold the swirls clockwise and foam tape to the top of the cupcakes.

Cute, and easy to do—thanks, Laura!
