Fun Flock Tips
Several Webisode viewers emailed this week asking for more information on using the Glue Pad with Fun Flock from this week’s segment, Fun Flock 3. I talked with Susan and together we came up with a few tips to make your flocking even easier!
Tip #1: The Glue Pad doesn’t come with the glue on the pad—you must apply it before using. There’s a refill bottle with the package, and it needs to be squeezed onto the pad before you use it, the same way you do when re-inking an inkpad. The pad also needs to have glue added to it often...much more often than an inkpad.
Tip #2: After several uses the Glue Pad may become tacky. When this happens, rinse the pad with warm water (it cleans up easily), then press a paper towel over it to absorb excess water. Let it dry thoroughly before adding fresh glue from the bottle. Take a piece of white cardstock and pull the edge of it across the pad to spread out the glue. Washing the glue pad can make a huge difference, it’s like a new glue pad again!
Tip # 3: Be generous when applying glue—whether you’re putting it onto the glue pad, or applying the glue straight onto your paper or metal piece. This prevents problems with flock or glitter coming off your project.
Tip #4: Be sure to add the flock quickly before the glue dries. Pat the flock gently before shaking off the excess. If you need more coverage, add more flock.
Tip #5: When flocking metal projects, be sure to use plenty of glue, then pat the flocking on and add another layer. Let the pieces dry overnight before handling.
Tip #6: The Essential Glue Pad works the best with flock, but HOTP designers have used a glue stick as well. Use a thick layer of the glue stick, and add the flock very quickly before it dries.
Thanks to Beth and the other Webisode viewers who emailed. Hope these tips help!
