Creatively Unblocked!

Have you ever felt creatively blocked? You know, not really excited about making cards or working on scrapbook pages? I’d been feeling that way for awhile—for some reason, I just wasn’t motivated to go into my little crafting room and couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Then a friend mentioned she had the same experience until she switched her furniture around. That’s when it clicked that something in my room just didn’t feel “right”, so last weekend I swapped my table around to face the window and couldn’t believe the difference it made. (And I love the view of Amsterdam rooftops.)

Part of my problem was that I didn’t have any storage, so things ended up in precarious piles on the floor. Bless Keith, he not only went to Ikea on Saturday, but also carried my new shelves up The Stairs of Death and put them together. (At one point during the construction of said shelves I heard a thud and a string of curse words…when I asked if I could help, the answer was a terse, “No, I don’t need any help.”)

And I had great fun at the KreaDoe show in Utrecht over the weekend too…this show is massive! I watched a lot of demos, stocked up some basics and managed not to break the budget. I also found a few things that you might see in upcoming Paper Wishes catalogs and Webisodes too…hooray!

Speaking of Webisodes…a thank-you to Louise, who emailed and said: “Just a quick note to say PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get these webisodes available as pod casts, I would love to have these to watch during the endless hours a parent spends waiting to pick up, drop off ,etc etc.” Okay Louise, Paper Wishes Weekly Webisodes are now available as downloadable podcasts through our site and iTunes. We’ve just started, so we’ll be adding previous segments as we go. You can also bookmark the page with an RSS feed, and email a note about a segment to a friend. And you might have noticed that you can now post comments on Webisode segments too. Yep, we’ve been busy!

Until next week!

Hi sara,
I love your room, so bright!!
I have the same problem as you and many others that I just don't have any creative ideas at all, I sit there on my computer admiring other peoples work, but I just lack motivation, unfortunately my work area is there to stay, it is stuck to the walls, so I just try to make a change by arranging my stamps and inks etc, if you know what I mean!
I had to laugh, because your husband sounds like a typical male!! the curse words and the NOT needing any help!! lol
I'm looking forward to the next webisode, unfortunately I have to wait till the 21 st of this month, because my son and I share the internet and we have used up all of our download limits for this month!! aaarggg!!
I should be more careful, shouldn't I , lol
Have a great day!!
Martha

Hi, Sara

So you live in Amsterdam? I think you have a nice room! I live in Friesland (the northern part of Holland)
I have also been to the Crea-Doe show in Utrecht. I went with my mother on sunday. We had a great day!
I love to watch the webisodes, and get a lot of inspiration from them.

Have a nice day!
Ingrid.

Kelley in PA:

Hi Sara, I read your post on your scrapbooking room with interest. Finding a way to keep it all organized, yet readily available perhaps the biggest challenge for all papercrafters. Your shelves look wonderful

I wanted to share an idea I came up with this year. As a mom of five, every space in our home is claimed for everything but scrapbooking. This past spring, we purchased a camper for more vacation fun. The thought occurred to me that I was not about to let that camper sit unused while we were not camping, which in reality is most of the year! So we ran the electrical lines necessary out to the parking area beside our home and made a few other adjustments and now, for the first time ever, I have a scrapbooking room! I can use it year-round. And the great thing is I can keep everything laid out until the next time I escape to my precious scrapbooking hide-away.

When we go camping, I just neatly gather everything up from the bunks, etc. and store my things in between camping trips. It has worked out great for us and I wanted to share just in case anyone else has a camper out there and is also short on space for special projects like scrapping.

Hi Sara,
Gosh, I love seeing a pro being just as disorganized as I am!!! LOL
How on earth do you do weeklies with you in Europe and Paulette in the States?? A ton a time?
And why isn´t there a HOTP embassy in Amsterdam yet???? *grin*

Oh, and guess the cursing proves you really got those shelves at IKEA, does it! LOLLLL
