Where’s My Package??
I am anxiously awaiting my package from HOTP…inside are the new templates and I’m dying to get my hands on them, especially the Swirly Doodles template! Just look how fun this template is! I can’t wait to use those swirls on a layout. I have it all planned out in my head. (Which is rarely how it turns out in real life.) Here’s a page Paris did. I love how she used a swirl for the “c” in her title.
I’ve also discovered the two scrapbooking magazines published here in Holland. The layouts are really sophisticated and although I can’t read the instructions (since they’re in Dutch!) I can pick out a few words and the pages are still inspiring. And I’ve found the stamp store (“stempelwinkel”) that’s just a 10-minute bike ride from our apartment. We also came upon a market last weekend where a man was selling vintage postcards…they’re gorgeous and I can’t wait to play with them. Plus there’s a stamping and scrapbooking event on this weekend; their National Scrapbook Day is June 2. I guess I won’t be starved for art supplies—whew!
For Doris, who asked me to post photos of Amsterdam, check out the gallery! Lots of canal photos, since you really can’t take a photo around here without getting a canal or a bicycle. I’ll have more soon and would have included a pic of our building but they’re doing construction on the sidewalk out front.
(And yes, I did figure out the washing machine eventually!)

Okay! Gotta have a "Swirly Doodle" template! And, my, oh, my, what a lovely neighborhood you live in...enjoy the time you are there; it will pass altogether too quickly (remembering the 3 years I spent in Italy so many years ago)...

Hi Sara,
Welcome to Holland and Amsterdam. How long are you here? Would love to know if you would be interested in meeting up with some scrap[bookers here? Drop me a line sometime, I live just outside of the city. Have lived in Holland a number of years and am originally from Canada.
Take care,
Debbie

Hi Sara!
It had been to long ago since I read your blog so I had missed the news about you coming to live in The Netherlands. Wow!You're very welcome! Paulette and you are my favorite scrapbookladies that brighten up my wednesdags with the new episode of Weekly Webisodes. My kids (6 and 8) already know: O, it's wednesday and mum has to see the video. They sing along with the tune.
There are three scrapbookmagazines: Creatief met foto's, Scrapbook (has projects and subjects for the advanced scrapper) and SCRAP! The last one comes a few times in a year, the other two are every two months. You can buy SCRAP at Albert Heyn (most famous supermarket) and cannot have it sent to your home. You can with the other two. SCRAP is beautiful. It's a glossy. The Posthumuswinkel (in the centre of A'dam, St. Luciensteeg) is a MUST!! Al the stuff is more expensive here than in the States,so be prepared. In Rotterdam is Pien's Scrapbookstore, also very famous. ALso on Internet: www.piensatelier.nl
I hope you'll have a great time here in The Netherlands. Your appartment is on the most wanted spot in the country. But: hop on the train one day and find out that also the Northern part is worth a visit! It's a two hours railwayadventure to Groningen.
Warm greetings,
Esther van Dokkumburg
