Reality TV
Last week I was in Cleveland, taping four segments for Scrapbook Memories TV. You know how everything looks so natural on TV when you’re watching it from your couch? Well, next time you’re curled up with the remote, just remember there’s usually something going on behind the scenes—like the crisis mode when the host has laryngitis! My friend Julie McGuffee is one of the hosts of Scrapbook Memories, and when I got to the studio on Friday morning she was drinking Throat Coat and trying not to talk. By the time we were ready to film, she had absolutely no voice! What do you do then? Put the guest (me) on alone! Yikes! I was super-nervous–I’ve always had a host or Paulette on air with me and even though each segment is only 5 minutes long, that’s a LONG time to be talking by yourself! Stacy Julian was filming the same day, and she makes her solo segments look sooooo easy! I think doing television work or public speaking is a little like watching Olympic gymnasts—it only looks easy!
PS. My mom called me the other night—it turns out the new issue of Somerset Memories (formerly Legacy) is out, with my Prague Travel Journal sarabinder™ inside! Yay! (My mom tells me Keith looks “somber” in his photo!)

Well I for one am glad you are coming out in that program. I've seen Paulette in a couple of segments, but not you. That program airs in Puerto Rico every Saturday at 11:30 am, and I watch it everytime it comes on. Sacred. I get great ideas from it. Do you know more or less on what date your segment is supposed to air?

You'll be able to see Sara's solo debut when series 1200 airs in January 2008. I did manage to get a few words out for our segments on the series which will start to air this summer. Sara is such a pro. With comments like: "If Julie could talk, she'd tell you how much she loves the detail on this page." I never realized before how hard it is to even laugh when you have laryngitis! Life is just full of scrapbook moments!

I love blogs and am happy to have come across yours today. I just set the tivo to record Scrapbook Memories, it comes on Saturday mornings here in Florida. I used to watch it but haven't watched it in probably a year, will get back in the habit of watching it and look forward to seeing your segment in 2008 (sounds soo far away 2008!) LOL!

When you were in Australia a "little bird" told me you were heading to Amsterdam - and here you are nearly there! Good Luck to you both in your "new postings". I will stay in touch
Best Wishes - Marylyn
